Engaging English Language Learning Students and Their Teachers
Write Our World is a nonprofit organization that empowers multilingual youth worldwide to embrace their languages and cultures through ebook authoring. Our task, as UX Designers, was to help teachers and their ELL students effortlessly and efficiently navigate the site.
The Problem
Teachers and students are having trouble navigating through the original site and are frustrated with the instructions of how to create ebooks. Additionally, they struggle with how to access their finished books and sort through the exhaustive Write Our World library.

The Solution
We redesigned & simplified the Write Our World website so teachers and students would know exactly where to look for resources and instructions in an efficient and intuitive manner.
We eliminated confusing instructions and added visual cues and iconography so non-english speaking students (and English Language Learners) could more easily navigate to their desired page or resource.
We incorporated Google Translate into the site in order to increase accessibility for those students.
Lastly, we created a new logo and color scheme for Write Our World that reflects the full spectrum of cultures, languages, perspectives and experiences they exist to celebrate, empower and share with the world.
