Title:    Ghost Cathedral I
Medium: Oil on Panel
Size: 30” x 30”
Year: 2016

I was brought up in a Catholic-Protestant family, where my mother was Catholic and my father was agnostic but raised Congregational (the son of a pastor, no less). In this painting I am exploring my feelings about church as well as my need to distance myself from the constricting dogmatism often associated within its walls. The celebration of color has to do with the light that is able to escape the building. This cathedral was inspired by a church in France where part of my family is from.
